Historic Spaces and Places Pop Up Event

Today is being spent in my patio hammock, cold Austin Eastciders Blood Orange in my hand, and maybe some crawfish later because yesterday was busy enough for the whole weekend!

Corsicana Main Street Program successfully established a fun new event for my ever evolving small hometown. Historic Spaces and Places is a weekend full of all the staple antique dealers and boutiques that line the streets of historic downtown, along with pop up vendors in historic buildings being renovated, leased, or shared with another business, and live music and free local brews in the biergarten. So many familiar faces and new-to-town locals gathered together to eat, drink, and shop local and enjoy where they live and who they live there with. Every small town has it’s underbelly, but all that aside, the history of Corsicana is becoming more maintained and embraced than ever.

A new-comer nursery, The Changing of the Garden was in full bloom and ready to cater to even the greenest of thumbs.

Virgil & Maude’s pop up next door to the newly opened home goods store Timbers had a line of eager shoppers at their door Saturday morning. Find their brick and mortar on Hwy 287 just off Interstate 45.

Can’t stop downtown without a visit to the pocket park. It’s a great place to use the tidy restroom in the back while shopping downtown, too.  And the new one down the street has just opened!

The biergarten featured local brews from Athens Brewery, located on their historic square (Corsicana is working on getting a brewery started of their own!), the usual suspects including Shiner Bock, and a great live band.

With Derrick Days in a couple of weeks, downtown Corsicana is certainly booming! Look for places to stay on Airbnb – even get an apartment downtown or stay a night at artist collective 100 West (more on that to come!).
